The very large hole will accommodate two 1500 gallon tanks. Even though we are only building a two bedroom guest house at this point to live in until we build the main house, we wanted to put in the larger tanks, ones that could someday accommodate a five bedroom home. They base the size of the tanks on the number of bedrooms. We could have just used two 1000 gal. tanks, but opted for the larger 1500 gal. tanks, as the cost was only about $100 more.
Close Call Too Close
The truck backs up to the hole and drops in the tanks. Our hole happened to be right on a slope, so the poor truck driver had to back up within inches of a drop off on that very unstable, sandy soil. The dirt kept falling away, so needless to say we were all nervous, even the guys were ready to jump out of the way if the truck fell in. Yikes!

The truck returns with second tank (The Pump Tank) Again, backing up to that hole so close on unstable soil was making everyone nervous. Supports behind the rear wheels were barely holding on. The drop was literally within2-3 inches from it and the dirt started to fall away. The 1500 gallon concrete septic tank gets put in first. The pump tank will be placed next to it. In some of the photos, you can see one of the men trying to stabilize the rear wheels of the truck with large blocks, geez, he was just too close between the truck and that hole for me.
